I'm hearing the story and I'm hearing the what you're going through. Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah, man. That's the artist that I've always been. I don't purposely do it. When certain beats hit you, and that shit's just like, oh, this shit tugging at me, bro. Like tugging at my heartstrings. And it's like you just know what goes on that. One more time. Then we do it. one more time. One more time. spin it. right, spin it one more time. Hit me, baby, one more time. I am absolutely thrilled to be welcoming in legendary recording artist off of Shady Records. It's West Side Boogie in the building. Oh my God. I'm the pod right now. Yo, Boogie couldn't make it. Boogie couldn't make it? No, we got the other Shady Records guy. Who is this? This is fucking Grip. Fucking Grip. Fucking Grip. Fucking Grip is right, man. Let's go, Grip. Man. Stray Society's finest. The lyrical miracle himself. One of my favorite rappers, for real. We were just talking about how I became familiar, but I know we wanted to kick things off with what we have here on the table. So tell the people what it is I'm looking at right here.
I want to know the backstory. What is this beautiful? Um, am I looking at this camera? You look at wherever you want, bro. You can look at Henry's ugly face. So if you want to like make a point to people, look straight into that one. Yeah. So this right here is called Drowning the Habits. It's my third beer. Uh and it's a collab with Burial. Uh so one of the best breweries I've ever been to. Um where is burial? Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville is the fucking craft beer capital of the world, I feel like. Shout out my dog Doug, man. Shout out Doug, Dougie Doug. Dougie Doug, man, Dougie Fresh. So what kind of beer is it? It's an IPA. So, like, normally when people drink IPAs, it's kind of like if you drink an IPA, you're pretty much just trying to get fucked up. They're strong. They're pretty strong. You know what I'm saying? You got some hair on your chest. Yeah, yeah. Like a stout is stronger, but like I don't drink IPAs. If you know you can tell, kind of like you look at me, you're like, you're like a lager kind of guy. Peach fuzz on your shit.
I know. I literally called my wife on the way over. I was like, God damn it, I forgot to shave this shit off my face. Ben likes a good uh lemon drop, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Like a Hefeweizen. Hey, Hefeweizens are pretty good too, So like I like I follow all beers and shit. But like nah, I feel like uh this kind of just like I don't know, just like takes away from that stigma about just like IPAs have just being bitter and just whatever, right? So I just it's fruit shit, you know what I'm saying? Like oh, it's fruity. Yeah, kinda. It has a it has a you should try it. Okay, I'm about to pour it right now. Yeah, yeah, pour it up. By the way, the can looks super tight. Don't forget the can. Don't forget when you pour up. Don't forget when you pour up, man. Tilt your glass, man. Don't disrespect the beer, man. Not a rookie. Let's see this. Let's see this legendary pour. Let's see how he does. We gotta see. Yo, rate his pour on a scale of one to ten. Yeah, Yeah. He got rated by the head. No, like you give him a rating. I will.
Oh, okay. Wow. Oh, he's rating it by the head. Okay, I didn't understand that. Yeah, man. Barely no head. Good good pour, dog. Oh shit, he's headless. Yeah, He could buy a crane. Headless horseman. Damn, bro. I'm actually impressed. Yo, yo, let me get a sip of that real quick. Oh, see? Oh, I could have got you a glass. He got some on his shorts. Yeah, right. Ah. No. Damn. You're right. Yeah, man. So I was like, you know. Ooh. That's different. Yeah, bro. What percent is it? Like seven. And it's still strong. Yeah, half, probably. That's still strong. That's like double a Bud Light, right? Yeah. No, not double. Hell yeah, it is. Yeah, isn't the Bud Light like three and a half? It's like four. Oh, okay. I guess it's pretty close. It's pretty much double. So what flavors what flavors am I tasting right now? Um, lime, vanilla bean. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? And then just like different hops. So like these hops just have different flavors, and they're just bro, it's like in weed, bro. like you get these hops from fucking California or wherever you're getting these hops from, and they just all have like there's like citra. It's a lot of shit, you know what I'm saying?
So this is just a whole different world that you just kind of get you get lost in that shit, you know what I'm saying? Like it's a lot, it's a lot. We talked to we talked to a lot of artists about like, you know, diving into their passions as kind of a way to extend what they're doing with music. You know, it's like music can only do so much. Surely you're interested in some other shit. Right we talked to like Scotty ATL who started very successful grill business. Yeah, man. Find some shit that you like. Start a side hustle, man. It's it's if you like it, like it won't feel like work, right? You're like, you're promoting your product by drinking a beer on a podcast right now. It's pretty turnt. I'm Bringing up shit on the road, too, man. Yeah. And yeah, for me, I think the thing is is that like you would be doing this if you weren't rapping type shit. Like you were probably drinking beer, you know, about the same time you started rapping, maybe might as well be your beer. But but yeah, I mean, you know, same thing with like Scotty. He would have probably just been making grills even if he wasn't rapping. Like people that are into skateboarding and and rapping, they would have just been skating if they weren't rapping. Yeah, so it's like it's not like y'all aren't doing other shit, probably, right?
Like, just think about what you do like to do, and then maybe rap some like business around it, or you know what I mean? Rap is like a you know, you just like use it to catapult you to other shit, you know. what I'm saying? It's a vehicle, exactly. You know what I'm saying? Like, I fuck with film, film was like my first love. So like I'm able to like implement that shit into my videos and shit, you know what I'm saying? Like, or just like even even to the point where eventually I want to do short films and shit, and just like then I have the music to fucking back it. It'd be the soundtrack and shit. So it's like, it's a lot of shit that you can do, you know what I mean? Just like, like I said, if rap is the the thing that gets you there first, you know what I'm saying? Just use that shit as the platform. Yes. You know what I mean? Yeah. Are you a Tarantino guy? Hell yeah. Yeah. I'm I'm so fascinated still by like the how this came together, right? Because you know, you you're even mentioning there's there's clearly endless options of like hops, flavors, yeah, yeah, beans, whatever the fuck. Yeah, so like yeah, so when you work with burial to make this, right?
Like how did it actually go? Um, so pretty much we kind of like piggybacked off of the last one that we did for IDFT. Okay. So uh the last one was called uh Go Stream I Died for This, by the way. Yeah, IDFT. Uh I died for this. The last one was actually called um, damn, what was the last one called? I bought it at the release at the release party. Just don't die this time, which is off of the it's based off the interlude, right? Yeah. So this one's called Drowning the Habits, which is based off of a line in the in the in the new, the new project. So um which song so they can go stream it. It'll be out by now. Is oh bear. Off of bear. Yeah, yeah, okay. So um, and they have this like dark, they're all their shit's dark, bro. Yeah, it's all skeletons and fucking ever like the transmigration of souls and shit. Like all the titles of the beers be crazy, right? Transmigration of souls. Are the owners like into that shit? No, they're cool as fuck, bro. Oh, so it just you know, it was like a brand burial, so they're they're just playing on that. They're just great at branding, then.
Yeah, dog, great. You know what I mean? So, like, uh, yeah, no, and I feel like the shit that I kind of rap about, or just like pro, you know, certain certain songs and shit are just kind of like they go into it too. They feed into that shit too. So, like, it was easy, all right. All right, drowning the habits. Like, I'm literally saying drowning. So, like, yeah, we're drowning the habits, you know what I'm saying? Like burial might be like drowning in, you know what I'm saying, whatever. The sorrows of your sadness. Sorrows of your soul. You feel me? So you came up with the name then. Yeah, Drowning the Habits. That's that's that's your contribution for sure. Yeah. How involved were you in like the the can artwork? Cause I mean the art, it's like the beautiful fucking can. Sexy. Yeah, we talked, we talked a lot, uh, even down to the flavors and shit, like what we wanted this shit to taste like. Did you get to try options or is it like they kind of came to you? I trust Doug enough to, he's a mastermind when it comes to that shit. So yeah, bro. Like, if if he said that shit good, gonna be good, bro. It's gonna be good, you know what I'm saying?
Yo, find people that you fucking trust and do business with them. Like that goes from the music. I mean, I think it was 24 hours who was on here talking about with Keno Beats and the project that they did. He literally just was like, I mean, yeah, I didn't even listen to it until it was like ready to go. He like recorded the project over the beats, and then he did Keno did a bunch of post-production, it sounded totally different after, and he was like, Yeah, that sounds hard. Just you know, just putting your faith in people that are good at what they do. Yeah, yeah. You know, we got a problem, a problem with that shit is like humans, period though. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah. What do you think it is about like why do we not? It's relinquishing control, bro. It's like us trying to find an editor to do our content, you know. We love our editors, Henry. We love our editors, of course, Zach Korean, Ronnie. We love you guys, love you guys, but we maybe would do things, you know, exactly our way every fucking time. But we don't have the time for it. That's the thing, bro.
Yeah. Damn. So, how often? Cause like, let's talk about the first time you were doing a beer with them, right? Was the process different? Well, excuse me. The first beer was actually brewed um here, and it was a peanut butter and jelly stout for snub nose. Oh shit. Yeah. So like which has been your favorite beer of the three you've done? Can't say You just love, you just love beer. This guy just loves fucking beer. Who's your favorite child, Ben? Come on. Don't ask stupid questions. I only have one so far. Well, so yeah, nah, nah. That shit just came about like um one day. I had been to burial because I'm me and my bud uh Rusty went to uh Asheville just for you know a couple days, just drinking this shit, whatever the fuck. And um I had went to burial and that shit was good as fuck. I just remember like, bro, like a couple years later, I get like a oh no, did they follow me? They might have followed me on uh IG or some shit.
I'm just like Oh, you got the burial follow? Yeah, I'm like, why the fuck did they just follow me and shit? You know, then I went to send them a message, like, hey, thanks for the following or some shit. And they was just like, yo, my my kids love the music, you know what I'm saying? And um blah, blah, blah. Like, are you you I see you're in the beer, like you like shit, like I'm trying to collab, like blah, blah, blah. So we just built it from there, you know. build a, you know, rapport relationship. And you know, um, that's locked in. That's that's beautiful. Yeah, I I feel like you know, like we were talking about off camera. I feel like it's cool, because you know, rappers in hip hop love to collab with, you know, liquor brands and you know, uh champagne brands, blunt raps, right? But I do feel like the craft beer market is really it's almost untapped. It's untapped from from a from a rap and hip hop perspective. No, pun intended. No, pun, puns are always intended over here. Love a good time, bro. Love a good pun. Don't tempt him with a fucking pun, man.
You'll be in for a wild ride. I just got a little hard. God damn. God, I'm looking away. Um so do you have any aspirations of like owning your own brewery? Yeah. Yeah, we're working on it now. Any any ideas for like a name? I already got a name, yeah. Come on, man. We need an exclusive It's already. It's already. Nope. I got it. I gotta trademark it first. I'm in the process of trademarking it because this uh company in Denver, well now, like outside of Denver somewhere, a small brewery. Yeah, has a a beer that has the name in one of their beers. It's not the name of the actual what's called it. Yeah, it's not the company. Yeah, right. Like, but they have an app so in the beer industry, that's a thing. So like I reached out to them and shit, and they I reached back out, was like, oh yeah, no, it's fine, but uh we just gotta go ahead and get this shit trademarked, but gotta get in the sign some shit first. Damn, shout out like the friendly competitors in the beer industry. We kind of expect that shit from a brewery, bro.
Like, I guess. The motherfuckers is like, they like hippies and shit, bro. Yeah, yeah. Other industries, they'd be like, fuck no, it's our name, bitch. Yeah, bro, for sure. Damn. So I try to have a rap. Damn. So so you're gonna be so you're about to go on tour. Hell yeah. Um, or I guess, damn, you'll already be on, you might be back from tour by the time this comes out. We're a little bit ahead, guys. But but you know, as of today, sitting here, you're you know, about to head out on tour. Uh 15 dates, I believe. 17. Oh, 17 now? Okay, cool. It's the me versus me tour. Yeah, me versus me. Give us some like understanding around why why we're calling it me versus me. All right. cause uh if Henry had played you the album, you would have heard the song called Hyperbole, where I say, bitch is me versus me, right? But uh it's it's more than that. Uh just like me versus me, just for me, it's on shit like a lot of times we kind of just like we get in our own heads and we got social media and we got all of these shits and just all these people, you know, accomplishing uh different things and shit, and they might be in the same field as you, you know what I'm saying? So a lot of times you might get down on yourself and shit, but like, bro, you gotta realize like, bro, that's not who you're in competition with.
Like, that's not your story. You know what I'm saying? Like, your story is your story, you know what I'm saying? Like, and the only competition is yourself, like, you know what I'm saying? Be a better be a better person than you are dropping bombs on that motherfucker. That caps, busting caps on that motherfucker. There we go. Both. bombs, caps. Give them something else. What else we got over there? Applause. One more time, yes. Oh, I got a golf clap. Okay. Give me which is kind of appropriate. Which is kind of appropriate when you think about it because golf is a game that I picked up recently, and it's and it's very much like, yeah, I want to beat my friends, but when you're out there, it's you versus you. You versus you. You're in your head, it's every shot is just that's like that's like part of the tragic part of it though. Like it's what makes it so hard. So intense golf is the hardest game ever, quoted by Michael Jordan. It's self-sabotage, self self-sabotaging at some point. Something like something like that. So, man, we hear this all the time from smart people like yourself. And so listen the fuck up, people, because it it's something that we struggle with so much, man. Just being creatives, right?
And you know, being entrepreneurs, starting a business, starting a podcast, whatever. It's so fucking easy, bro, to look at, hey, what is that hip hop podcast doing? Hey, for you, what is that rapper doing? Like, oh, I used to rap with them, and now they're at this point. Like, I'm sure you go through that shit. And I mean, that, like, it takes a toll on me sometimes. I mean, you're you're much better at it. And I don't know if it's because you're, I don't know if I'm like too competitive or like you just have a different competition side of you or something, but like it's hard for me, bro. It's hard for everyone, I think naturally. I I've I I pride myself in not giving a fuck a lot of times. Because bro, at the end of the day, what does giving a fuck matter? Accomplish. What does it do? It just hurts my brain. Yeah. It's not gonna change the outcome of anything. No, it doesn't make you do better. Exactly. So that that's when you just focus on, all right, well shit, I just need to be better than I was yesterday. Yeah.
You know what I'm saying? Or my last shit. No, I'm finna top this shit. Like, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. And even on those shit where you just like, you know, just trying to, oh, I gotta be better than my last shit. But it's just like, bro, stay in this lane and just like navigate that shit, man. And you know what I mean? Try just do your best at that, bro. Like, yeah. Me versus me. Yeah. You know what I also think it does is that I catch myself when I am kind of obsessing over like what are they doing, or like, you know, just stressing out about that stuff. You're literally wasting time. And you're not getting any better. You're actually falling behind the person that you're like over obsessing with and studying, or like whatever the fuck is going on. And a lot of times, bro, like I almost find venting to be a waste of time, right? So, like sometimes, you know, you your homie will call you the van or your family member will call you the van or some shit. I don't think I ever really call people to vent like that.
You know what I'm saying? Like, because it's just like fuck it, bro. Like, I'm finna figure this shit out. You know what I'm saying? Like, let me goddamn, nah. Like, what is venting nice? Not me telling somebody else who is not even going through the same situation or anything. Like, it does absolutely nothing. Like, it's I guess it helps you. You know what I'm saying? When you look at like therapy, maybe maybe it helps some people that are in therapy. You know what I mean? So I take it you've never gone to therapy, huh? Fuck no. You don't seem like a therapy guy according to that statement. but, you know, I mean, I do uh I have my my forms of like meditation and just like not even on no shit, like I'm just sitting there, but no, just like you know, legs crossed and humming, you're not doing that. You know what I'm saying? But I do like I'm a I'm a deep thinker and shit. So a lot of times I'll think and I'll I'll I'll assess the problem and I'll see, you know, I'll I'll reassess it if need be. You know what I'm saying? I'll just do a lot of thinking and shit and just reflecting. People don't reflect.
And a lot of times, bro, the person that you that you're goddamn putting that shit on already has shit on their plate as well. So now they're worried about you, you know. what I'm saying? It's very selfish in some ways. Yeah, bro. Like I feel myself when I'm doing it, I try and catch myself. Which is why you dumped that shit off on a therapist, right? Dude, no, I can pay to be. I probably should, I probably should go to therapy, honestly, based on the week I've had, at least. You've had a week. But no, shout out to my sister, who's the fucking worst about this shit. I mean, she will call my parents and just bitch about the fact that she's in traffic or something, and just it's literally like, what are you doing? Like, we don't need to hear about your, you know, daily struggles. Like, we all have the daily struggles. We all sit in Atlanta traffic on 400 or 285, 85, wherever the fuck we're going. You know what I mean? Shout out to 85. Yeah, for sure. Um, so you know, building out a tour as like, you know, still an emerging artist, right? Like you obviously still, still an emerging artist.
Pun intended Shout out still. Yeah, he just got hard again. We're gonna be picking these shits up man. Yeah. I'll go head to head with you for this shit. Yeah, yeah. Actually, actually, one thing I wanted to say to close out the therapy thing. Like, I think for you, man, you're probably venting through the music, bro. Yeah, that's uh you seem like you're vent, like I do have a therapist, and it's that thing right in front of you right there. Yeah, the microphone and shit. I feel like you're getting some shit off your chest when I'm listening to you. And in the best, I'm not, I mean that in the best way possible of like I'm hearing the the story and I'm hearing the what you're going through. Yeah, you know what I mean? Yeah, man. No, I think that's just because that's just the artist that I've always been. Yeah, okay. So I don't I don't purposely do it, right? So like when you hear a certain beat and shit, like all right, you know which way you finna go with this shit. You know, you're not finna hear some shit that's just slapping, and you just like, oh yeah, I'm finna talk about motherfucking my nigga just died, and yeah, damn uh my I had a fucking miscarriage. Hey, this is all right, man. But like when certain beats hit you, and that shit's just like, oh, this shit tugging at me, bro, like tugging at my heartstrings.
And it's like you just know what goes on that shit, bro. Feels like it writes itself on us. Oh, it write itself, you know what I'm saying? Because it's the story that you're telling. Like, you ain't making shit up, you know what I'm saying? It's like, so I was just like, it's not. I don't know, I wouldn't necessarily even say it's therapeutic, but for me, I think that other people need to hear it because other people probably have experienced the same shit. Yeah. So maybe it's therapy therapy for them, you know what I'm saying? Like, which in in turn helps me out too. So, so you know, I'm I I struggle with a lot of the you know, new music that's out because I really do think it lacks storytelling and lacks substance. People are gonna throw fuck throw all the fucking old head hate, whatever the fuck you want to do, right? This guy hates Playboi Carti. This guy hates Cardi. Fuck him, you know. But just kidding. Cardi, I'd love to work with you. Cardi, I don't listen to your music. I'm sorry. Um, but but so for someone like you who really focuses on the lyricism, right?
Like you focus on the story that you're telling and the way that you're telling it and the bars that you're you know that you're rapping. Yeah, how how natural does it come? Because for me as a listener, it seems like you're literally just like picking up the microphone and like this all just flows out so fucking seamlessly. Yeah, man. Well, crazy part is I don't know, like, so I got a homie who is a rapper, very well-known rapper and shit, you know what I mean. And uh I go to the spot sometimes, and uh he told me one day, just like that he records dog. I don't remember the number, but it was something ridiculous. And I'm just like, oh shit, money. Like, you actually record that, but like what the fuck am I doing? Songs per day, like a lot. Yeah, it was how many was ridiculous. I think he tried to give us a guess. So he tried to, he tries to make like six a day. Okay, six songs a day.
Right. I'm just like, yo, is this Cyhi? No, no, no. Because you know NBA Youngboy? That's crazy. You know, Playboi Carti? Cardi doesn't make any music. Nah, man. So like my shit. He doesn't even have an album's worth. My shit's a little different, bro. Like, my technique's a little different. Like, yeah, yeah, what is it? My like, bro, like, I go through slumps and shit. Like, like where I don't make music for months. Is that frustrating? Nah, not really. I just be living life and shit. You have to live life to have something to talk about. I live life and shit. And I go through my depressive states. I go through my happy states. I go through whatever the fuck. The ebbs and the flows, baby. You know what I mean? It's just life and shit. And then it'll be a point where I'm just like, all right, let's get back in the studio. You know what I'm saying? Like, and it's not just like I'm planning this shit. Like, all right, on this date, I'm going, man. It'll be like, I just start feeling this shit. Like what is that feeling? How would you describe that to me who's never felt that? Dog, I you ever watched like a fucking. You ever watch like an action movie?
Yeah. You start to hear the goddamn, you start to hear the triumphant, the triumphant shit. When they loading up the guns and shit. Oh, shit. They about to have his final battles. You know what I'm saying? Oh, the montage? Yeah, it's like the montage music. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh shit. It's like time, bro. Like it's time. It's time, bro. I feel that from like couch, bro. You start reflecting and shit, like, oh yeah, nah, I'm not gonna sit down too. All right, fuck. These niggas forgot about me. You know, what I'm saying? I have a question, bro. Oh shit. I just got fucking jazzed, bro. I have a question. How does you know wanting you know, you gotta live enough life to make music, but now you're you know, you're waiting you're under shady records under Interscope with a major label, you have quotas. Yeah, why Henry? I know because let's be real, let's break it down. Why? How does that work? You know what I mean? All right, so they don't give a fuck how much life you've lived. Yeah, nah. Oh, you're depressed? Fuck you. Where's the album, Grip? to this point, they've only been distributing the music, right? So we still, own every piece of art I ever released.
I said this, right? Yeah. So like at this point, since it's distribution, we can drop whenever we say whenever we want to drop, you know. Throw a bomb on that bitch right now. Come on. Come on, man. Let's go, man. You know what I mean? So come on, man. Once you tie, once you get into the major label aspect of things, then it that's when it gets different. So that's when people shit get pushed back or whatever, it might get shelved and shit, you know, whatever. So I think that music has changed enough to the point where if you're have a a partner, and when I say partner, I'm I'll speak of the label, right? That's um understanding, you know what I'm saying, uh enough. And it's just like, okay, maybe you can split it up into all right. So they might constitute the album as 12 songs. So what if you tell them, like, hey, all right, well, this year I want to drop uh fucking three, six, nine, twelve. I want to drop four three packs off. Nah, I could just do it, I could just drop these shits instead of it being an album.
There's there's ways you can get around that shit. Just like based off of how music has changed over the course, you know what I mean, over the past fucking decade. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Like, so you can have three song singles. A single can have people don't know the single, bro. Like, but it's it's three songs and it counts. So I was like no, so they might hold it to the other side of it too and be like, nah, if you owe them, nah, it's all about the amount of songs that you owe them. Okay, yeah. Right? So if they say we want an album, and the album has to be 12 songs. Yeah. Hey man, I gave y'all niggas four singles. They each had the three-song singles. Slick, slick, you could do it like that. You know what I'm saying? Damn. But at the end of the day, you do want your fans, you know what I'm saying? Who are like your hardcore fans or just like your diehards who who like uh uh the construct of an album of a whole album. Yeah, right, and you just like making a like bro.
what I said my first love was film. So, like, I don't want to just give you three songs and then you know, I want to give you a project so that you can look at this shit like a like you would go see a movie in the in the fucking theaters, right? Yes, like you you go to a movie, you're not just seeing like fucking, oh yeah, it's a it's a con it's a concept behind this shit, it's a story. You ain't just seeing the film goddamn, oh nigga, this scene was supposed to be back here, like it's all fucked up, like right. So, like, nah, like that's how I kind of like to present my music, you know, like a fucking story, you know what I'm saying? Like, just because that's how I kind of see shit in my brain. Concept album, yeah. I see it in my brain like that, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, how do you I guess rationalize with the fact that the music industry is going so far away from that from a from a general perspective, right? Like, obviously, there's artists that are still doing dope fucking concept albums and they're crushing it. So don't let me like say that it doesn't exist.
But you'd have to agree that like from a general lens, there's more singles that have nothing to do with the next single. There's more projects that have a compilation of 12 fucking songs that I don't fucking know why these were put together, other than there's TikToks where just five seconds of your song needs to be dope. Yeah, how does that weigh on you as an artist, really? Have you uh ever watched Birdman? I feel like I should I feel like I should say yes to sound awesome, but I'm gonna say no. Have you seen the shit? No, damn. You've seen like every movie. This guy watches more movies than I've ever heard. Well, because my dad watches them, but he hasn't showed me, he hasn't showed me Birdman. Why the fuck hasn't your dad showed you Birdman? Hey, no, tell us about uh fairly recent. You know, what I mean, it was the best picture and shit, right? But like, no. They got best picture? Jesus. Hell yeah. We're embarrassing, bro. So now Michael Keaton. Edit this out, guys. Edit this out. What was Michael Keaton? Michael Keaton played what? Batman. Yes, yes, yes. So in this movie, he's uh aging old as fuck. He's uh he's an actor.
But you know what I'm saying? He's he's living off of his old hype. Well, he's really dying off of his old hype. He was a he was a uh action hero, but he he plays a bird bird man. It's Batman. Right? So now he's in now he's in, like, he's in theater, you know what I'm saying? Oh Real Art. Yeah, Emma Stone is his daughter, right? Okay. Damn, this is a fire cat. He's just like this, bro. Edward Norton's in this bitch, bro. What the fuck? Edward Norton's actually one of my favorite actors, and I'm not even kidding. This Shit is hard, bro. All right, I'm watching that like tomorrow. This shit's hard as fuck, right? So, like, uh, it's a scene where Emma Stone kind of lays into her dad. Like, she's like, yo, social media exist, all this shit exists. You know what I'm saying? You're fucking living in the past, and you think that you can just like blah blah blah, like this shit doesn't fucking matter, but it does, and nobody gives a fuck. Yeah, and that shit resonated with me. Like you are a bird man, like my kid said it.
You know what I'm saying? Like my kids say this shit. You know what I'm saying? Like, so no, to me, it's on some shit where it's like, bro, what can you do about it? You know what I'm saying? You you ever you got a conspiracy theorist homeboy who just be like, yeah, dogging? This is that, this is that, and I'll be like, nigga, what am I supposed to do about this shit, nigga? I'm just not supposed to buy food from the grocery store. Yeah. Cause goddamn this GMOs and shit, whatever the fuck. Like, bro. You know what I'm saying? Like, like, it's like that to me with music. It's just like music has switched so much, like from the last decade, right? So now, streams, bro. Don't you know I I'll tell you, don't y'all niggas know I'll never go platinum. Never. You know how what do you know how much platinum is in streams? So many. Oh, you just streams alone, it's insane. It's like uh 50 million. No, no, no. The platinum is over 50 million. I think it's more than that. It's 500, 500 is like gold. 500 million is like gold. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So yeah, 500 million times like 1500. You need Like a billion to be platinum.
Yeah. In streams. Yeah. Yeah. Holy shit. You have to still sell records, which no one's buying music like that anymore. So it's insane. Huh? Yeah. So I sound. Or you have to get 1500 album streams. You know, so TikTok, TikTok helps a lot of these niggas. You know what I'm saying? TikTok help a lot of these guys. You know what I'm saying? Like, that's cool. And you know that. Yeah, that's cool. And you still like how to still not understand. Because you know, you know it. You're not, you're not denying it. Yeah, I know, bro. I know. I know, but some people. I'm a smart man. Some people just I know this shit. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? But at the end of the day, bro, you know what I'm saying? Like, this is my art, this is my legacy. I ain't just I'm one of them guys who just like, oh, I'm just staying true and I'm just gonna do this and the I'm not that. You know what I'm saying? And I do have music that's that was supposed to be out over a year ago that you know what I'm saying, is is more like dedicated towards the youth, anyways, because at the end of the day, we're fucking come on, bro. We if we in our 30s and shit, I'm not necessarily making music for you.
If you enjoy it, cool. I really want to make music for the kids because their mind is still, you know what I'm saying? Trying to find all the music. Right, so like they can still be influenced, bro. Like, and I can still tell them niggas the right shit to do, you know what I'm saying? Or in my head, the right shit to do. Right. So I can still be an influence to these guys. Yeah. Like, like you a high schooler, you a middle schooler, whatever the case may be, I can still kind of like influence you a little bit. Yeah, you can't teach this old dog. new tricks, bro. You know what I'm saying? You can't teach it. Come on, bro. That's not for you. It's not for these niggas. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? So when you look at the analytics and you see that 17 and below might be your lowest shit, then you just like, I bet. I I bet I probably gotta start making music that's you know what I'm saying, more so for some shit that they would like, you know what I'm saying? But you have to do it like that. But but but you can always, because you bro, think about it. When I start when I started I started making music in high school, you know what I'm saying? So like I always like that shit's always there.
Of course, you know that you gotta grow up and you know what I mean, make this or make that, but nah, it's still there. So like even every album has has a trace of that shit in there, you know what I'm saying? How much is your music changed, would you say? Over over the yeah, evolution, like all together. Nothing. I've always made this type of music. Okay, yeah. So it's niggas never heard it. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? I've always made the shit that y'all was hearing, like, bro. I always made that shit, bro. Like, okay, yeah, because just some artists have come on here and been like, yeah, like when I first got started, I was making like this type, and then I really found my you know, lane or whatever, but you've kind of yeah, bro. You kind of stay. I stay, I stay true, you know what I'm saying? I stay true to myself. But yourself could change, yeah, yeah, exactly. I don't think it's necessarily people saying that, yeah. And I'm not saying it like that. Yeah, yeah. I'm just saying, like I have a moral compass, right? Yeah, you know what I'm saying? So tomorrow you're not finna just see me in a video or hear me goddamn just making a just straight up ass shaking song. Like, it's just like yeah come on.
You could probably make it pretty hard ass shaking song I have. I have some. We need that. We need to have some of them motherfuckers, you know what I'm saying this is Atlanta bro if you're if your song's not going up in the strip clubs it's probably not going up like see that's when you fuck up is it yeah because what the fuck is is that it can still be it has to be like within your moral compass and it has to make sense you know what I'm saying like yeah it's just gotta make sense if it don't make sense to what you've already established yourself as bro this rap shit is so cookie cutter it's like a goddamn bro the rap shit is cookie cutter it's like you got your origin bro you're action figures you know what I'm saying what do you mean you're action figures bro like you have an origin story and you have this shit You have a few catchphrases yeah you got the shit that you gotta stick to right so like you're not finna see Wolverine like do you know what I'm saying like certain shit right so it's like you're expecting you know what to expect from Wolverine you know what to expect from this nigga you know what to expect from this guy you know what to expect from Blade whatever whoever right is that detrimental you think to music like should people be allowed to change yes because we're human beings right we change we change all the fucking time but still and I think you talked about this before of like even even when you uh step outside of your lane a little bit like you know when you started singing on a song or you made a rock influence song you talked about this in another interview where it's like that doesn't feel that weird for you but me as a a grip fan like I signed up for the lyrical miracle shit, bro. I signed up for the Rappity rap. And the thing is, whoever feel like that, fuck them they can they can they
can all follow me. Yo, drop a bomb. Come on. Come on. I I pressed every button. Okay, come on. Obviously. Give me a golf clap again. Okay, cool. I like that. Yeah, can you mix that? Yeah, whoever's editing this, can you mix up the golf clap? It's supposed to be just one, like, a regular, like, oh no, I'm not sure. yeah. I like footsteps. No, bro. bro. Because at the end of the day, dog, you're at the end of the day, bro. Yeah, you're investing your time and $10 a month to this shit, but dog. You ain't invested in my shit. You know what I'm saying? Like, bro, this is me. Like, this is what the fuck I do. If I'm not, if I'm not okay to listening to the day. Yeah, bro. Cause you know what you're going to do tomorrow? You're gonna go to fucking job. You know what I'm saying? Like, what I'm gonna do, what I'm gonna do tomorrow, I'm gonna go in a fucking studio. Yeah. And this is my fucking life. This is my livelihood. My nigga, I gotta feed kids too. You know what I'm saying? So when it when it comes out of that shit, nigga, fuck y'all. If you don't understand the business of this shit, come on, bro.
There we go. If you don't understand the business aspect of this shit, yeah, what the fuck are you doing? I think of like Wayne dropping a rock album and Kid Cudi dropping a rock album. I don't know why I'm going hip hop artists dropping rock albums, That's a great example, but you know, people didn't uh receive them that well. But it was what was in their heart at the time. I just, you know, I empathize with the creatives that we talk to, like yourself, right? Where it like the fact that your business is your art and it's your personal art, right? Right, it's just so hard, man. Yeah, man, because it's like it's just not it's not a fucking, you're not slinging a widget, you know what I mean? Yeah, man, you're slinging your fucking soul, bro. You got these lonely motherfuckers who would just jump on and and do a comment. And and it's fucked up because like you'll have all of these positive comments. You'll like a few of them, You'll respond a few of them. Then you got this. One. Which one do you notice?
You have this one negative comment, right? And you're just like, bro, who the fuck is this talking this shit? Because this is the only motherfucker who's who talks shit. Then you'll look on that shit, and these niggas got hella pictures posted with like two likes. And you're just like, oh nigga, you lonely ass motherfucker. I ain't even gonna respond to your shit. Yeah. Because really, I could really end your shit like cerebral, like cerebrally. Like, I could really just like land to your shit, but then I'm the bad guy. You gotta have the empathy. I'm just like bro. they're not in a good place. I get it, but if I ever see you in person, it's all I'm punching your shit. I'm a nigga, brother. I'm finna I'm gonna I'm gonna break your nose. Like I want some real shit, bro. This is how I feel. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Because you don't know what the fuck I went through this morning. You know what I'm saying? Or you don't know how I'm feeling this morning. Yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like, so for you to say sit here and say some shit, and it's like, nigga, you obviously don't listen to my music. I'll punch you in your shit if I see you. But I ain't gonna say nothing right now.
I I need you to respond to one of these trolls with just like no a crazy bar. No, with like a crazy bar. No, no. You know, with like a four or like a 16 that just know why, you know why? Because he's not worthy. Because why didn't you respond to all the positive? The love. That's my shit. How many people have we talked to? How many people have we talked to on the pod who say the same thing? There's a hundred comments of love, and that one negative sticks out. Okay, fine. New idea, new idea. Respond to your like favorite comments with like a nice four, you know, just like a quick few bars, you know what I mean? Throw some bars. What do you think? Comment? You should try it. All right, yo, I ain't got bars, man. Yeah, okay. Yeah, you got no bars. We know that's a good idea. Okay, so false. Clearly, concept albums still work because it is the concept album. I died for this, that was what got the attention of Snub Nose. Or Snub Nose, excuse me. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Yep. Snub Nose
concept album is what got the attention of Paul Rosenberg, who then played it for Eminem, and that is how everything unfolded. Who's like a rapper or something? I've heard of him. He's white, right? White rapper, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's white Jesus. It's white Jesus, apparently. Yeah, yeah, exactly. So, you know, Brent Faiyaz's manager, Ty Baisden, was instrumental, I think, in making sure that you know, Paul Rosenberg heard it for the first time, right? Like he was the one that played it for Paul, right? Uh slick. Yeah, slick, slick, slick. Is that true? Slick. Um, I'm not sure if if Ty is the link between uh that and Paul, because I don't know. I mean, you know, Ty, that's my guy, man. Shout out to Ty. Shout out to Ty, shout out Brent, shout out to that whole movement. You know, what I mean, uh shout out that deal he signed. Hell yeah, for sure. You know what I'm saying? Shout out That 100 million or like whatever. 50 mil, right? 50 mil, sorry, yeah.
For real. Salute, but nah, um, because Ty be nah, well, nah, Ty didn't necessarily want us to fuck with that shit. I think he was trying to get like a distribution deal out of the out of the situation, but he didn't want to sign to a major label. You know what I'm saying? So that's where we he didn't want y'all to. Nah, for sure. Okay. So, you know, because I was gonna ask. Well, clearly, because look at Brent. No, I know. I was gonna ask how is it that Ty Baisden, like, you know, seemingly ooped this scenario, but it sounds like he didn't really oop it the way that like it ended up. playing out. Ty is pro-independent. I mean, I figure- Yeah, he's pro-independent, bro. So, like, yeah, for us, so he was like fuck this deal. For me, I'm looking at it like, all right, bro, like I'm looking at the whole situation. So I'm looking at it like, okay, Brent, Brent, an RB singer. Brent got goddamn, Brent younger than me. You know what I'm saying? Like, he's an RB singer for sure. So like you automatically got, you know, what I mean, you got the bitches on the on the on that's gonna listen. You have this bitches ain't necessarily listening to my shit until they just catch on to it.
You know what I'm saying? So like it's different. It was different for Brent for me, for me. Just how I was looking at it. You know what I'm saying? Like, I'm a nigga, we got now two kids, I'm motherfucking 30, you know what I'm saying? I'm about 30s and shit. So it was like to me, it's different. I don't I ain't think that the situations could be managed the same. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? So like Was he trying to convince you they could? Um, yeah, I mean, just because he sees the bigger picture, like just as far for us artists, bro. He's a fan. Because I mean, no, I think that it's just like, yeah, he's a fan, but I think that it's just like we know that this music industry ain't fair. You know what I'm saying? Like, so and he and he looking at it like, but we can get the bag without this shit, you know what I'm saying? So, like, and I get it, you know what I'm saying? Totally, I get it, you know. But you know, I mean, with with with us, it's just like we've been in the in the mud for so long, this is like when we looking at uh this huge cosign and this, you know what I mean, like just this major label, you know what I'm saying, but it's a major label through a huge cosign, like we look at it differently, you know what I'm saying? So, like, because me and Brent are two different artists, very different.
You know what I'm saying? That's the biggest thing. Grip wouldn't have been, all right. So, like a grip as right now in Brent Fires right now, like independently, they're just they have two different paths. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? So, like, you just kind of gotta make the smart move. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? You got to make the move that matters that makes sense to you. Exactly. People don't understand this. People don't understand this, I don't think, is that people love to just shit on fuck the majors, you know, fuck this deal, fuck that deal. Why'd you do this? Why'd you do that? Like, bro, we're all fucking people at the end of the day. Like, seriously, chill the fuck, like back the fuck off. Like, if I want to make a decision as me to take XYZ job, even I'm not telling you what fucking job to go take and go to work every day. You work at Walmart. What what is wrong with you? Why didn't you work at Target? You fucking idiot. Right. They pay $2 more. Yeah. Yeah, they got dental. I just don't think people 401k. Uh, I just don't think that people, um, and it it is, I think, lack of knowledge, mainly Yeah, a lot of motherfuckers don't understand.
They don't know what it they don't know what's actually fucking going on. Yeah, really. To not take the time to understand that and to be able to comment on it is the shit that pisses me off. Oh, but that's that's the standard. That's when I want to punch niggas in the shit and that shit. Just because it's just like, bro, you don't even understand. Yeah, you know how I'm saying. I know, man. You know, it's uh God, even people in the industry don't fucking know how they're how how a deal works. And it's like, God, I hope you get a good lawyer if you ever have a deal presented to you, bro, because you don't even know what you're talking about. And our shit's pretty sweet. You know what I'm saying? Our shit's pretty good. Yeah, yeah. Like, it ain't just like we just, you know, like we you got control, you own your masters. Yeah, man. I mean, we've talked about how it's it's pretty trendy to like hate on majors, but and there are, don't get me wrong, there's so many people have signed bad deals. Yeah, man, for sure. That is totally a thing, for sure, but they also have an infrastructure in place that is built for you to succeed. For sure.
They want you to succeed because they succeed. Yeah, they succeed, you know. So, you know, I'm not here to kiss labels ass and shit, really, you know, but you know, no, I just I just feel like We got something decent. Yeah, I and I feel like you've told the story ad nauseum, so I don't want you to fucking relive it. Uh, but you know, the Eminem, like co-sign to your point, obviously, being signed to you know, shady imprint of Interscope, et cetera. Like you talked a lot about this when you were rolling out, I died for this, because I think that was of course, like you know the latest and greatest. That was a big thing, right? Yeah. So, I don't want you to rehash like maybe the the standard, right? But is there any part of that story that you feel like has been left out or like that you haven't told? I want I want you to, and I think you have talked about this, but I do just want to even just touch on how close you were to quitting rap. That I just feel like this story is yeah, so could be so inspirational for people. Uh and it's actually not gonna be, but okay.
What's so anti-click? Wait, wait, I got one for this, I got one for this. Yeah, well, yeah, the way you just got so fucking jazzed thinking about he was gonna like change the podcast. This is going to be a clip right here. Like this was gonna be like one more time, blew the fuck up after this. Yo, make something up, and so nah, nah. right, right, just like say something Nah, nah. Yeah, I had two sets in my pocket. Nah. Yo, come on, keep going. Nah. That's good. That was a good start. That was a good start. No, no, no. Keep going. Nah. All right, fine, give us the real boring version, I guess. And then give us the fake version after that. No, just to no, I always quit, right? So yeah, y'all watch The Last Dance? Yes, all right, yes, MJ. So you know how MJ just made this shit up in his head to just like annihilate his fucking competition. Yes. Bro, I always I need I need inspiration. I need motivation. This shit don't really inspire me. I'll be like, yo, only a few motherfuckers dropped it. Shit is just inspires me. And it's like, all right, man. Like, I got to say,
I always quit. You guys Tig this shit. Like, I'm like, man, Fuck this shit, nigga. I'm done. Like, man, fuck this shit, bro. Like, I'm really just finna blah blah blah. blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, man. Fuck this shit, bro. Like, I'm sorry, Tig. You know what I'm saying? You're out of a job. Like, how often are we talking? Like weekly or monthly, or back in the day, back in the day before the responsibility, I got responsibility now. So like, but back in the day, it's like it wasn't, it was maybe like oh every other every every other month or some shit. You know what I'm saying? Five, five, six times. You'd be Like man, this shit ass, bro. Like, what are we doing? Fuck this industry. The fact that your manager stuck with you, though, bro. Shout out to Tig. Yeah. One more time podcast alum. He knew he knew I'm just talking shit. You know what I'm saying? He knew I'm just like, oh whatever. Like, yeah. That's your venting. That's your therapy. You know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, exactly. That's what I'm saying. Just pretending to quit. Every time I'm fucking fucked up and shit. You know what I'm saying? Whatever. So like off the IPA. You know what I'm saying?
No, I mean, you know, hey man, how many? We had we had shots before this. Yeah. A couple. I chased mine with with beer. He chased his with diet coke. Come on, man. Come on, man. You just called me out. And even though I don't really drink, I don't chase mine with anything. So somehow makes me like Shout out to him. Yeah. look what y'all are about to make me do. Big dick swinger over here. Don't Keep talking. All right. Um I'll take, I'll take one too. Oh, God. So but so no, bro. So like, um, I will always, you know, like, bro, you just get tired of this shit, bro. Cause like what tires you out, or like what tired you out specifically, what tires you out about it still, like knowing that, knowing that, and it's like, bro, I'm not a cocky man at all, right? I'm not just just like, you know, like I don't exude arrogance and shit. Like, I that's not me, right? But knowing that you making shit that's better than so many of these motherfuckers, bro. And then you you also have, yeah, let's get to it.
You also have the the fan who they don't mean any harm by it, but it's just like, bro, you're the most motherfucking underrated guy. What the fuck is going on? Why haven't you did this? Why why haven't you blown up yet? That's how we feel. You know what I'm saying? Nah, for sure. But like, there's fans. There's so many of them that'll just hit you like, bro. You know what I'm saying? I met a nigga who cried, like, bro, he's he was like in tears, like breaking down my album for me, and just like, bro, this shit's so ahead of the fucking time, and they don't understand. And I'm just like, damn. So imagine how you feel on a daily. Yeah. Damn. That's what I'm saying. You know this already, right? Like, you know this already. Like, like, but then now, what you just gotta break down the game, right? What we talked about earlier. Yeah, you break down the game, like, all right, bet. Like, all right, so cool, like, you gotta adjust, right? So, like, uh, bro, it's time when you get bro, you tired of that shit. Then you know you fine, nigga. Like, you know, you got them, like, bro, a lot of these niggas be weird and shit. You mean these niggas, they be weird.
You a regular nigga, they kind of weird. You just like then they weird, but they more popping than you. And it's just like, oh yeah, now they really not finna fuck with me. Cause they look at me like, oh shit. Like, yeah, you know what I mean? So it's just like so. When that fan comes up to you, for example, right? The one that's emotional, is breaking down your album in ways you borderline didn't even know existed, right? Is that uh overwhelming for you to the point where like Nah. okay, does it inspire you? That's the shit That make you stay. That stays, yeah. That's the shit that make you stay. Yeah, let's drink to that. Yeah, cheers to that. Cause I yeah, because I I feel like that could be two things that could either piss you the fuck off of like, yeah, like he agrees, like fuck this shit, I'm done. Like, or it could do what you're saying, yeah. Nah, that's the fuel. That's the fuel. Yeah, that's fire. Once again, Henry, I chase mine with this. He chases his with the drowning in habits. I didn't chase with anything, I looked straight at the camera too. Ah, I mean, I just throw up or something.
You all right over there? I chased it with more alcohol. So well, look. That's actually more manly. I'm about to chug this water. I got water now. I could look at the camera too, and just don't make me go pour another one. Yeah, man. Hey, man, feel free. So it sounds, it sounds like you might have, you know, touched on this, but just to be clear, like, what what do you find as the because it sounds like you've talked about what's the hardest part of being an artist, you know, that that you've shared, but what do you feel like is the most rewarding part of the job? Uh I think the most rewarding part is releasing it to the people, and like uh you just be surprised how many people hit you, bro. Like, I got a line, I got a line on a new project, right? And I say, um oh yeah, they said don't be too deep, it'll hit if it's more melodic, but it's fans to say that I saved their lives with shit that I jotted. It's a balance. Since I would choose to pursue this talent, I ultimately accepted the challenge. So here's my ballot.
Like, so like. Oh shit. Yeah. It gave me a I flared it up a little bit to me. To me, it's just like, bro. Shit, bro. Like, motherfuckers try to like uh put just artists in the box, period. Like, it's not like that. Yeah, some people out here just doing it for the bread. Some people doing it just because of what they like to do. But like some motherfuckers was just like, bro, like this is what I do. You know what I'm saying? Like, I've done this for years and years. And I've seen from uh uh younger age that like, bro, motherfuckers relate to this shit, bro. Like, and this is shit that I've gone through. I ain't making this shit up. So, like, for a motherfucker to be able to relate and they all the way in motherfucking Germany. And you're just like, God damn, nigga, like, I don't even hear, I don't even understand what the fuck you saying until I translate this shit, and you're saying that this shit changed your fucking life. It's just like, damn, dog, like that's impact, right? So, like, that's something I never thought I'd be able to do.
I think you would agree. Damn, bro. I think you would agree that impacting a smaller group of people, yeah, deeper. Yeah. Kicks the shit out of mildly impacting everyone. And see, that's the one, that's the one knack about signing the shady. You know what I'm saying? Man, I love Eminem. We all do. I grew up on Eminem, right? Of course. Yeah. But nigga, his fans be like, yo, it's not all of them. You know what I'm saying? Like, so His fans are fans like yours. Bro, it's like a four percent, three percent thing. Really? I'm surprised, man. I mean, Eminem has hella fans, right? True. But you got the people who are just they're sick. You know what I'm saying? Like, Eminem made stans for a reason. He made the song stand for a reason, right? These people are literally stans, nigga. You can goddamn, it, don't matter what you'll do. They only want to hear him. I literally think that they just listen to Eminem 24 hours a day. Oh, you know what I'm saying? He's the highest selling artist of all time. I know for sure.
Like for good reason, but still, yeah, some of these motherfuckers is like, alright, bro. Yeah. All right, dog. I'm not him. So don't expect me to make the shit that he made. Don't expect him to be on my every album. Yeah. Like, yo, re-fucking lax or just get the fuck off my page because I don't even need y'all. I don't, I don't, bro. I don't care. Like, it's not what I got in this for. You know what I'm saying? Like, I ain't getting this for uh Eminem stan to listen to my music. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Because you're not gonna be able to relate to it. You know what I'm saying? Two totally different stories. Eminem don't have the same life, bro. Like, you got different stories. So if you got them, if that's what you want to hear, hear that. But don't come on, don't come over my page. Don't come in my goddamn shit talking shit. Yeah. And I bro, just go listen to M, bro. Yeah. You love that, bro. Don't go listen to that. Don't. But the fact that he that he signed me, like, y'all niggas should at least not say shit. Don't you ain't gotta support it. Yeah, right.
But don't come on my shit talking shit. When he signed, like, this your mans, bro. He signed me. Come get your mans. You know what I'm saying? Like, this your mans. Go on his page and fucking talk to him. Come on, bro. Don't come on my shit saying that. You know what I mean? Like, I feel like he has fans that like don't even listen to other music type of shit. You know what I mean? Just obsessed. Because he's such a huge artist. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. the magnitude of an artist that he is is just like it's huge. So it's just like, bro, it's gonna be people who literally only listen to him. And bro, when they're younger. Bro, they weren't even alive when the first Eminem album came out. Right. There's Eminem stans that are that young. Wait, was Infinite 96? Yes. Yeah. But well, that's not necessarily. That's not really the first. Yeah, I mean that's not the first. Nah, we're gonna count Slim Shady LP, right? We're gonna say that's the first. And that's 99 or something, or what is that? Yeah, like 90, 98, 98. Yeah, drop in the comments if infinite counts. I think it counts.
It doesn't count, though. They caught it afterwards. That's the one that got him signed. That's his snub nose, pretty much. That's his snub nose. Yeah, so bro, I'm telling you though. I'm telling you. That might be his porch. But nah. Yeah, porch. Yeah. But I'm telling you, bro. It's just people who just like, and I don't, I've never understood this. Like, because, well, for one, I'm not just like, I would never comment negative shit under somebody else's shit. I've never done it. It's just like to me, it's like, boy, go get some pussy. What are you doing? It's people that are sad. bro. We had some crazy shit going on in our comments. Uh, I don't know if you saw like yesterday. Some crazy, like, just there's too much like just hate. I don't know. Sometimes I want to just block like the two people going at it. Yeah, we block people. No, but like, there's sometimes like a duo that are going back and forth. So, not just like one person that's being whatever. Is it bad that my first reaction is like, that helps the algorithm? Keep it going, let them go. Yes. No, because some of it's like really bad, bro. Like, I've noticed this one fight, because like, you know, we've definitely gotten to a point where we get a lot of comments, and so like sometimes I don't see whatever.
But this one I saw, these two people just keep like notification, notification. Like they keep going back and forth. Yeah, like, dude, they always do. Yeah. Never who are why are you doing this? I think you have to be empathetic, man. As hard as it is, like, yeah, you gotta understand. They're sad, they don't have shit else going on. It's like feel bad for them. Think about this. Like you said, you never do that, right? Like, bro, I would never just like comment on some. I don't, I've never, if I've never met y'all, yeah, I'm not arguing with some random motherfucker that I've never met on some motherfuckers shit that I've never met. It's just like So much unrelated shit. It's the most exciting part of some people's day. Exactly. Which is sad. Yeah, I pissed this guy off on IG. Yeah. Under this post of these two white guys I've never heard before. All right, bro. Talking to some rapper. Bro, it's just like, bro, relax. Yeah, relax. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Yeah. Like, cause for real, you're gonna get the knuckle sandwich when I see you. Like for real.
If you're talking shit, bro, and I see you and I and I recognize you, yeah. I'm gonna punch you in your shit. It's a lot of shit. the sad part is none of those people have profile pictures. They're like, it's like user 512. It's always fucking losers and shit. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Like, It's just like, bro. you got no fucking life, man. Like, what the fuck are you doing? You know what I mean? Like, shout out to them. You know, so I hope they get better. Like, you ain't doing so bad. So you kind of gotta be like, all right, man, I'm gonna put my ego aside and just kind of like try to empathize But that's tough. they might. And it's tough because Or for me. I don't know that motherfucker. You know what I'm saying? I like you though, bro. empathize. That's literally the word. I've seen You clapping back recently. Yeah, a couple. You sometimes you don't know. Sometimes I'll be like, Henry, Henry was on one for a minute. I'll look at that comment. We had a couple drinks. sometimes they should just be like, bro, dude, I saw, I was like, bro. But and it's fucked up because you should be able to clap back. I mean, it's I I don't really care. Motherfuckers be like, oh man, you look soft, you look sensitive, you like you care too much.
It's like nigga, yeah, I do. This is my fucking job. Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, I mean the bills. This is what I fucking do, bro. Like, yeah. So you you know what I mean? You got a problem with that shit? Like, what's up, bro? I'm sometimes like super proud of you. You know, in like a weird, like sadistic way, where I'm like, yeah, Henry. Yeah, because I'm kidding. I'm fucking getting the defending the brand. Yeah, but then part of me is like, Why did you, you didn't need to fucking respond to this guy. So I think the same exact thing when I do it. That's exactly what I think. Yeah. Afterwards, after the fact. Yeah, yeah. It's like post-nut clarity. Post-nut clarity of comments. that's what you do. I just got off my head box. You know what I'm saying? Like, oh, I shouldn't have did that. You know, yeah. It wasn't worth it. Yeah, Yeah. No. Fuck that shit, bro. Well, Grip, we've entered a final segment of the podcast, my friend. And before we do that, Yeah. Still. still five and a fuck you, but it's just gonna be called still, right? Yeah, it's like. Yeah, Henry wasn't gonna let me listen to it, but Grip walked in the studio and he's like, Hey, Ben, like, if you heard a new project I thought Grip might've been mad? I was like, no, but so then I listened to a few songs, and it's fucking amazing from what I heard so far. I can't wait till it comes out. It'll be out right now, so go stream it. It's out, it's incredible. Actually, we're gonna listen to this to the shit after this podcast. Yes, yes, this podcast. So, yeah, thank you. Front to back. So I really been out. Uh to get to the one more time podcast. Oh, let's go. Let's go. That's the only one that I answered for you. The rest we're gonna actually get up. It was a new one I was testing. I I don't know how it did. We're we're gonna let them decide. Put it in the comments. Thank you. Grip liked it. So Grip, a lot of artists are selling their catalogs right now. How much would it cost to buy your catalog right now? Shit. Depending on what it was worth, honestly. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. That's that's the question that we're asking you. You need Like a lawyer or a financial person. Yeah, but I don't even think My shit would be Maybe five. My shit might be like worth a good five right now, but I wouldn't sell it right now. I gotta wait till I got done. Ten, what if I have 10 for you right now? We don't, but yeah, nah. If you had 10 for me right now, nah, I'll just wait. Not including still, you could keep still 10 for everything. Nah. I'll wait because I don't want all of that shit. So nah, I'll wait. It's not worth it's not worth 10. No, fuck it.
Ownership. There you go. Ownership. Yes, sir. If it's good enough for M, it's definitely worth 10. Let's go. Yeah, let's go. Grip, what does your current YouTube algorithm look like? Shit. I don't know. Not on YouTube? Fuck. I mean, I'm on YouTube. What are your like the home page videos? What are they? I don't know. I don't really get on that shit like that. Unless I check it. Unless I'm like. You're going there for a specific. video? No, I'm going on there for like if I'm like fixing my car and I need to figure out E30. So what the fuck does it look like if you gotta change this? So do it yourself car repair videos. Okay, cool. We needed to know that. Yeah. And we could have used that potentially after my little fiasco. We had a mishap. What the fuck is leaking? God, we don't know. Hopefully it's not. By the way, reminder to check if it's still leaking after the game. He just reminded me pretty much. So thanks, Grip. Grip. AI has absorbed your voice, and anyone can make a song featuring Grip. If you could receive 50% of all of those songs, would you sign off on that?
I ain't got no choice. Have to, right? She's going to do a fighting system. You know what I'm saying? You could sue all of them and make them take it down, or you could get the cash. Yeah, but she's not getting no fucking money from that. You know what I'm saying? Facts. And it's the future, it's progression, so whatever. So he's going the the Grimes route. Grimes route, not the Drake route. He's team Grimes. Yeah. But Grimes is already big, So like he can do that. Grimes is big, and Grimes said 50%. Take it. I think you have to, though. That's like we're going there. Totally. Grip, you can only wear one outfit for the rest of your life. What is it? For the rest of my life? Rest of your life. Every day. All your life. I think he's gonna hate this one. Look at this face. Dude, disgusted. I mean, TikTok because this is more interactive. Like Facebook's for like your grandma and shit. Thanks. Give up beer or give up graphic tees. Graphic tees? You could never wear that Atlanta shirt. You might as well give it to me. That's fine. Okay. He'd be naked drinking his beer. He doesn't wear a white t-shirt. He doesn't fucking care. You could wear plain tees. Good franchise. Good franchise, boys. That was a fucking dumb one, bro. Like should I change it to t-shirts? Just like he was gonna choose beer pretty much over anything. It was like unless you would have given him give up beer or rapping, those would have been the only two things, maybe. Like, or like his children, like this is my fucking rampage, Ben. I'm just saying, that was bad. Like, I'm here to judge, you know.
Not on camera in front of everyone. God damn. I mean, just take some fucking criticism. All right, shut up. Last one of the this or that. Okay. Ghostwrite for 6'9, making a quarter million a year, or leave the music industry. The way he thought about that His eyebrow went up so perfectly. I'm ghostwriting for this nigga. Like no one has to know. Yeah, whatever. No, your name's on the credits. No, that's not ghostwriting then. I don't give a fuck. I'm ghostwriting for the nigga. Part two. 250k, just steady paycheck. Right back. Here we go. Rampage! Some people are so thrown off by this. Just like Bear was like, that's gonna be like a full fight.
Just for yeah, I'll go call it. Bear got so excited. He was. He wants to use it in his songs. Anyway, starting as always with hip hop. Oh, oh, is that the first word? Hip hop is the word. Okay, my bad. I was tripping. Uh hip hop. Uh black. Op gunshot. College. A failure. Bacon. Pork. Nike. Check Jupiter. Space. Mm's revival. I don't know. Why does everyone hate on it so bad?
